Three Ugly Truths
1. America is a crippled republic because it suffers from COMMON SENSE CONFUSION and CIVIC IGNORANCE.
2. To compete in a global economy fueled by super technology, America must have a SUPERBLY EDUCATED WORKFORCE and a HEALTHY WORKFORCE.
3. America is abusing the most valuable resource a country can have, its people, at the most critical point of human development.
* COMMON SENSE CONFUSION is not knowing what Common Sense is! America’s current definition for Common Sense is characterized with four words; opinion, ordinary, unreflective, and unsophisticated. We need a new definition (ref. Post #s 1 and 2 ).
* CIVIC IGNORANCE is not understanding how government works, or should work. President George Washington once wrote: “A primary object should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be more pressing than communicating it to those who are the future guardians of the liberties of the country?”. Teaching the science of government is not a priority in America!
* The lack of an education system that is universal, free, and has a National Curriculum that is rigorous and comprehensive; will keep us from developing a SUPERBLY EDUCATED WORKFORCE.
* The lack of a health care system that is universal, free, and has a range of services that are rigorous and comprehensive; will keep us from developing a HEALTHY WORKFORCE.
* The critical period for human brain development takes place from eight weeks into a pregnancy to approximately 5 years of age. During that period 90% of brain development takes place. When a baby enters the world it already has a sense of the surrounding environment and the people in it! After formal education and some work experience, brain development is maximized at approximately 25 years of age. At mid-life brain development starts a gradual decline into old-age. The financial pressures created by a crippled republic force new mothers to delegate child care to family members, relatives, friends, or professional day care services. Only about 20% of new mothers are stay-at-home mothers. The bond between mother and child is critical during the critical period of brain development. America’s crippled republic does nothing to address the problem; other countries do! The low number of stay-at-home moms will keep us from developing a SUPERBLY EDUCATED WORKFORCE, and a HEALTHY WORKFORCE.
