NYCHA Problems

* What is NYCHA?…The New York City Housing Authority is the largest public housing authority in North America. NYCHA was created in 1935 to provide decent affordable housing for the low and moderate income new yorkers. It consists of 339,900 residents, 162,143 apartments, and 277 housing developments. It also serves 29,789 authorized residents in 15,426 units within 58 developments that have been converted under the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program.

* What is PACT?… PACT is a critical tool for NYCHA. Through PACT developments will be included in the federal Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) and convert to a more stable, federally-funded program called Project-Based Section 8. This allows NYCHA to unlock funding to complete comprehensive repairs, while also ensuring homes remain permanently affordable and residents have the same basic rights as they possess in the public housing program. WHAT A BLESSING FOR THE LOW AND MODERATE INCOME NEW YORKERS!

* WHOOPS! Let’s not get our pigtails in a knot! NYCHA has been #1 on New York’s Annual Worst Landlords Watchlist for the past four years.

1. $40 Billion is needed to renovate its 2,200 buildings.

2. There are widespread, unchecked, repeated violations,  and 673,900 open work orders.

3. The following extras are available at no extra cost…Rat Infestation…Insect Infestation…Unlimited Mold Growth…Sustainable Plumbing Problems…Sustainable Heating Problems…Sustainable Electrical Problems…Sustainable Building Decay…Continuous Toxic Environment.

* New York City has more homeless people than any other city in the United States…76,501.

IT LOOKS LIKE THE #1 CITY IN THE WORLD IS ALSO #1 AT TRASHING ITS CITIZENS THAT NEED HELP THE MOST!
