Since the most valuable resource a country has is its people, we need to understand how the people’s Workforce is developed. We need a Workforce Development Time-Line!

PRE-SCHOOL…Womb – 5 years old

Emphasis…play, socializing, and basic physical/mental coordination. Brain development starts in the womb and 90% of brain development is completed during the first five years after birth. A detailed discussion of brain development from the womb through the first five years of life is provided in Post #3.

GRADES k-5…Elementary School…Age 6-11 years old.

Emphasis…basic skills: reading, writing, mathematics, social skills and the start of knowledge development.

GRADES 6-8…Middle School…Age 12-14 years old. 

Emphasis…continue knowledge development. Minimum increases in brain development.

GRADES 9-12…HIGH SCHOOL…AGE 15-18 years old.

Emphasis…develop career preference…college/vocational. Minimum increases  in brain development.

COLLEGE UNDERGRADUATE…AGE 19-22 years old.

Emphasis…acquire knowledge.

VOCATIONAL…AGE 19-65 years old.

Emphasis…accumulate knowledge and experience.

COLLEGE POSTGRADUATE…AGE 23-25 years old

Emphasis…accumulate knowledge.

CAREER…AGE 26-65 years old.

Emphasis…apply knowledge and experience.

RETIREMENT…AGE 66-TOMB

Emphasis…enjoy family, friends,hobbies,travel, adult learning, etc.

Clearly the PRE-SCHOOL YEARS are the most important regarding brain development, knowledge development, and future productivity as a member of the workforce! The  next post will look at what factors affect the education and health of the workforce.
