National Safety Data
* 2% of nation-wide crashes are due to head-on collisions.
* Head-on collisions account for greater than 10% of fatal crashes.
* Causes of head-on collisions include…Distracted Driving…Impaired Driving…Fatigued Driving… Driver Confusion…Speeding…Improper Passing.
* The deadliest and most expensive head-on collisions take place on major highways that have high speed limits. The root cause for those collisions is not listed above. Since major highways have entrance and exit ramps, the root cause for head-on collisions is a critical design flaw. THE DRIVER IS ABLE TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY VIA AN EXIT RAMP!
* Other countries are using basic technology to prevent drivers from entering highways via an exit ramp. Automobile makers create vehicles that drive themselves, park themselves, brake themselves, give you driving directions, can be remotely controlled, but cannot keep a driver from entering a highway via an exit ramp! I guess the lives of a country’s most important resource, its people, are not worth the effort or cost!
