The Decision to Invade Iraq (2003)

* In 2003, The United States, alongside a coalition  of allies, made the decision to invade Iraq. This decision was primarily justified by the belief that the Iraqi government, led by Saddam Hussein, possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and posed a significant threat to international security.

*Additional factors influencing the decision included concerns about Iraq’s alleged connections to terrorist organizations, and a broader goal of promoting democracy and stability in the Middle East.

*The invasion was preceded by intense international debate, with some countries and organizations expressing skepticism or opposition, particularly regarding the existence of WMD and the need for military action.

*Despite these concerns, the coalition proceeded, launching military operations in March 2003. Ultimately, the failure to find WMD after the invasion led to significant controversy and ongoing discussions about the justification and consequences of the decision.
