Limited to the current definition for common sense, American history has become a collection of bad decisions and unsolved problems. Dominant personalities, with personal agendas, were able to manipulate the planning and problem solving processes. A definition aware of the supports and barriers of common sense would raise the quality of planning and problem solving processes to new highs.

* Within an individual; any individual may have a mixture of supports and barriers
* Between two individuals
* Within a group
* Between an individual and a group
* Between two groups
* Between multiple groups
…SOMETIMES…
* An individual’s personality is defined by a dominant support or barrier.
*The personal or professional relationship between individuals will be a major factor in the outcome
* A very strong barrier can overpower multiple supports.
* Not having a support is worse than having a barrier (i,e., you can not learn from the past without memory).

America’s future depends on making the new definition for common sense the core of our culture! If a majority of people embrace and utilize the new definition for common sense the dominant personalities, with personal agendas, will not be able to manipulate the planning and problem solving processes.
